Kaitiaki Adventures is the Worlds only All Kiwi Rafting/Sledging & Hiking Crew and has been operating in Rotorua since 1999.
Specialising in culturally integral white-water rafting, sledging experiences on the Okere section of the historic Kaituna river, the Wairoa & Rangitaiki. Leading culturally steeped guided hiking expeditions on Mount Tarawera, Kaitiaki is humbled to hold the sole concession, taking manuhiri to the summit of Mount Tarawera.
Maori culture is infused into each individual excursion, giving our customers a truly, holistic and uniquely Kiwi experience. This cultural aspect of our adventure allows us to showcase our beautiful country in a way that no other Adventure Tourism company can.

Roles:

 

Senior Grade 4/5 Raft Guides

Kaitiaki Adventures is currently open to applications from Senior 4/5 Trip leaders to raft the upcoming season on the Kaituna & Wairoa rivers! Kaitiaki Adventures offers a dynamic working environment based in the BOP catchments of the Wairoa, Kaituna & Rangitaiki Rivers.

Highly professional and relaxed working environment. Our primary focus is to provide culturally infused adventure tourism products to domestic & International visitors.

Standard pre-employment drug test will be undertaken.
Holding a full drivers license or the ability to get one is favourable but not essential.
Must hold current first aid & river rescue certification
Must hold current NZQA qualifications for correct Rafting Grade (Grade 4/5)

Minimum Weekly Wage equates to 30 hours x ($28.75 – $45.75) depending on experience.


 

Mt Tarawera Driver Guides

Kaitiaki Adventures is looking for the ideal candidate to join our Whānau as a Driver/Guide for the Mt Tarawera Volcanic Crater Experience.
Leading culturally steeped hiking experiences on Te Maunga ō Tarawera, this job offers unmatched office views!

Full and comprehensive on-job training is provided

The Successful Applicant will:

  • Hold a clean Full drivers licence – (P-Endorsement is of an advantage)
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational, social, communication and documentation skills.
  • Be confident in portraying Tikanga Māori and Whanaungatanga.
  • Be a confident speaker, able to work in a fast paced environment and possess an unwavering passion for delivering a truly unique Kaitiaki Adventures Experience.
  • Hold a current outdoors first aid certificate (preferred but not essential)
  • Undergo a standard pre-employment drug screening

Kaitiaki Adventures is currently open to applications from Grade 3 Raft/Kayak or Sledge Guides to join our Whānau for the upcoming season on the Kaituna & Wairoa rivers! Kaitiaki Adventures offers a dynamic working environment based in the BOP catchments of the Wairoa, Kaituna & Rangitaiki Rivers.

Highly professional and relaxed working environment. Our primary focus is to provide culturally infused adventure tourism products to domestic & International visitors.

Standard pre-employment drug test will be undertaken.
Holding a full drivers license or the ability to get one is favourable but not essential.
Outdoor First aid required but not essential for applicants
Must hold current NZQA qualifications for correct Rafting Grade (Grade 3)

Minimum Weekly Wage equates to 30 hours x ($28.75 – $35.75) depending on experience.

 


 

Adventure Photographer

Kaitiaki Adventures is currently open to applications from Adventure Photographers to join our Whānau for the upcoming season on the Kaituna River!

Full and comprehensive on-job training is provided

Whilst taking amazing pictures of our manuhiri along the banks of the Kaituna Awa, Adventure Photographers play an essential land-based safety role within day-to-day operations.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a clean Full drivers licence or the ability to get one
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational, social, communication and documentation skills.
  • Be confident in portraying Tikanga Māori and Whanaungatanga.
  • Be a confident speaker, able to work in a fast paced environment and possess an unwavering passion for delivering a truly unique Kaitiaki Adventures Experience.
